Top 4 Trades of December 2022

At the beginning of each new month, we like to go back and see what the Top 4 Trades were from the previous month. This way, we know what our clients are looking for and how trade is helping them in their daily lives.

In December, IMS Members moved the Top 4 Trades to the recreational boating market and cash register receipt advertising. More so, jewelry and charitable donations streamed into the ranks of our December Top 4 Trades. To no one's surprise, advertising on register receipts during the holiday shopping season did provide members a "place and a space" to grow their business initiatives. One could further rationalize that the December Holidays also drove the trades in jewelry and charitable donations. Our Brokers will be in your corner to keep the seasonal market cycles in mind all year round. By mid-year, assess your budget and business needs, and call your Broker to figure out what adjustments you need to make to get the most out of your Trade. If you have to, be prepared to modify your strategy to meet any goal you set from the year's beginning. Your Broker is keeping your goals on record and how they can apply to the end-of-the-year trade cycle. Together you and your Broker will make a difference.

The Top 4 Trades from December were:

Boat

Wholesale shipments of new powerboats through July 2022 decreased by 6% year over year. Wholesale shipments of new outboard engines increased 6% year over year. With the up and down on the market components, the 2022 Boats Group Midyear Market Index shows strong consumer demand continues to move boat inventory faster than before the pandemic. When boats hit our trade market, your Broker and fellow IMS trade members can deliver measured savings and value to ease the decisions that come with buying a boat.

Receipt Advertising

Register receipt advertising made an interesting inclusion to the December Top 4. Yes, you guessed it, advertise, promote and engage clients! On your next grocery shopping purchase, look at the receipt and check out the variety of colorful ads that cover the back. Register tape advertising should always interest consumers. I’m sure it started by following the classic advertising logic, namely, the 2 reasons you needed to place an ad anywhere were 1) empty space and 2) people have some sort of contact with that space. Store receipts are blank on the back, and everybody gets receipts when they shop, therefore, why not put ads there? The same rule applies to billboard advertising which did make the Top 4 Trades in November. Promote your business when the customers are in a spending cycle. Call your IMS Media Broker to get the most out of your trade account. If there is room to advertise, IMS will make it fit your budget.

Jewelry

The sales measurement service reported that jewelry sales in October 2022 dropped 3.8% compared to the prior year, though sales were still up a whopping 34.1% over October 2019, before the pandemic. Despite that, The U.S. jewelry market is expected to grow by a compounded annual growth rate of 1.31% from 2021 to 2026, and earn $61.868 billion in revenue by 2026. Online jewelry sales amounted to almost $7.6 billion in 2021 in the U.S. Its value continues to steadily appreciate over time. What's beautiful about investing in jewelry is that it is timeless and its value does not diminish. Jewelry becomes more valuable over time and is a great investment asset to own, as it pays dividends in the future. The IMS Marketplace provides an incredible option to get tremendous redeeming value at a substantial savings. Hands down the IMS Marketplace is the first space you should refer to if you seek out investing in jewelry assets. Jewelry is the most memorable gift and is a classic move for passing on generational wealth. Watch the Market place and let your broker know if you are interested in the market.

Charitable Donations

IMS has always been proud to provide a list of charities that take IMS trade dollars as charitable contributions. In December, IMS members helped many organizations save their vital cash by giving them the gift of IMS trade dollars. We are happy to see this make the Top 4 Trades in December. Giving to charities is more impactful than ever. Giving can reintroduce friends and family to the importance of generosity, your IMS membership builds and strengthens communities in so many ways, and charity toward others will always be your greatest measurement for success.
