Japanese woodblock print, known as ukiyo-e ("pictures of the floating world") typically depicts the rich culture and way of life in Japan from hundreds of years ago. As a result of this unique art form, several wood print societies have been formed throughout the years in Japan. Gihachiro Okuyama made it to a few of the renowned societies in Japan. This one is titled "Kamakura" and signed with the artist's signature (stamp on the lower left). Gihachiro Okuyama (1907-1981) is a very well-known commercial and advertising posters designer. He established his own company in 1931 while making a living by creating fine and creative woodblocks, which is what he continued to do most of his life.
