An additional layer of fiberglass is added to the inside top portion of the shell for added strength and projection. The LP Top Tuning congas utilize a system that allows a conga drum to be tuned from the top without turning the drum, lifting it out of its basket, or removing it from its stand. Players will immediately recognize the advantages over traditional nut/bolt/washer/wrench tuning mechanisms, especially in live situations. Immediate access to all tension bolts will eliminate situations where only the nearest bolts can be tensioned, resulting in uneven tuning.
