HAND-MADE Bison Skull Pin / Brooch By Juried Artist

This high-quality crafted pin/brooch was created by Jim Mullan, a mixed-media artist, who for many years, showcased and sold his creations at the Coconut Grove Arts Festival in Miami, Florida. After the 90's, he and his wife Tori who is also an artist, transitioned from producing pins and brooches to creating larger, more substantial works which can be seen in over 1,000 galleries, museum stores and specialty shops worldwide. MEASUREMENTS: 1 1/2" W X 2 3/4" H This unique pin/brooch which is one-of-a-kind, combines patinated metals and hand-painted detail. The piece was designed and created in the 90's. The indigenous nations of the North American Plains consider the bison to be a revered, sacred animal that protects them against harmful natural elements, spirits and enemies so they would place one of these skulls outside of their lodge. The rose inside the top of the skull represents life, beauty, love and passion which they believed created a poignant visual metaphor that life continues to bloom even after death.
