Woodenhead case of 2018 Zinfandel, Guido Venturi Vineyard

This case of 2018 Zinfandel comes from the Guido Venturi Vineyard in Mendocino County. Tasting notes Dark, soulful ruby, aromas of woody blackberry bramble, sage, tobacco, a hint of leather, and a tone of plum. As it opens, more blackberry, mulberry, and black plum. The palate reveals a forward spiciness akin to only Zinfandel—dark and brooding, big flavors. Grounded in earth and herbs, with a dark fruit core surrounding a considerably enormous wine. Not for the faint of heart. For the real Zin afficionado—OMG!!! The weight and flavor of this wine just bursts upon the palate. This is one for the cellar, made for the long run but totally approachable now. Finishes gently and almost sweet with supple moderate tannins.
